Together

together

Book Name: Together

Author:  Jane Simmons

Publisher:  Orchard Books

Theme/Topic: This picture book’s theme is the similarities and differences. Two dogs that are very different at all levels are very good friends. So a conflict!  They cannot accept each other’s differences….

What You’ll Love About This Book: Too cute! Me and my son both loved picture books and we found this really really cute.
“Together” is a delightful story of the ups and downs of having a best friend. Author introduces kids to two adorable dogs, big Mousse and little Nut, who become friends one rainy day. Soon, they are doing everything together, until they start to notice little differences. And when those differences become more pronounced, their friendship falls apart…until they learn a valuable life lesson about commitment and sticking it out.
A great story about how despite your differences, you can still be best friends. I think this book does a great job showing kids that no matter how different their friends are, they can still find a common ground and become best friends like Mousse and Nut. Loved the message that we don’t have to do everything together in order to be best friends. It’s a worth buy.

Book Name:  Bear Feels Ill

Author:        Karma Wilson

Illustrator:    Jane Chapman

Publisher:    Simon & Schuster

Theme/Topic:There is nothing worse than feeling ill, as Bear soon comes to learn.

What You’ll Love About This Book:

Last month my son was not keeping well for almost a week and he was sleeping almost entire day. He doesn’t want to play but surely want me to read aloud more…..he correlated his situation with this story so much as asked me to read this only many times in a day and what mumma can do so I read this again and again J

This is such a sweet story about what true friendship is about. This story about a bear who feels sick! His friends want him to come out and play, but he feels too unwell to go. His friends come over and comfort him as best they can. I love how much thought is put into the words on the pages. Such a cute way to show kids how to take care of someone who is sick.

Lots of rhyming words which is fun to read. The illustrations are done in acrylic paint. They are absolutely adorable and colorful. The facial expressions are well done. The pictures give you a warm and fuzzy feeling. This story is perfect for a read aloud during illness.

Five Little Fiends

Book Name : Five Little Fiends.

Author: Sarah Dyer

Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing

Theme/Topic: Five statues, each with a squat red fiend who lives inside.

What You’ll Love About This Book:This book is about sharing, cooperation, and appreciation of nature. The fiends are not scary. The best thing about this book is that it’s out of the ordinary topics, it talks about 5 little weird with ugly appearance, it talks about the importance of sharing and how even the greatest wonders of the world won’t be as wonderful if we don’t share them… it will make your kids appreciate nature and all its wonders, and how the sun the moon the ground the sea and the sky all blend together to give as this beautiful complete picture…truly it’s a good read! The artwork is superb.

We read this book few times but so far my son didn’t liked it much. Whenever I read this book he ends up asking many question who are fiends, are they real, where all I can find them and many more. So for me though this book is unique but not in our favorite list.
